She led her Bulldogs to their third straight NCAA Championship, surviving what many have already called the greatest game in the history of women's NCAA ice hockey. For this, Shannon Miller is the 2003 AHCA Women's University Division Coach of the Year. UMD prevailed in this year's epic NCAA title game over Harvard, 4-3, in double overtime.

The win, before more than 5,000 fans in her home building, gave Miller a three-peat and a final record of 31-3-2 for the year.

A native of Melfort, SK, Miller has compiled a career record of 108-19-13 in four years at Minnesota-Duluth. Her winning percentage of .818 is the best alltime among NCAA women's coaches.

The runner-up for this year's AHCA Women's Division I Coach of the Year award was Brian McCloskey, the first-year coach of the University of New Hampshire.
