The University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team announced today that Melissa Roy, of Saint-Laurent, Quebec has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Bulldogs starting in 2004-05. Roy is a forward who currently plays for the Montreal Axion of the National Women's Hockey League in Canada.

During the 2003-04 season Roy garnered four points in 10 games played in her only season with the Axion. She helped lead her team to the first place finish in the West division of the NWHL, with a 20-10-5-1 record.

"Melissa is a fast skater and has great skills," said head coach Shannon Miller.

Also joining Roy next year will be Rachel Drazan, Erin Holznagel, Danijela Rundqvist, Ashleigh Schols, and Lisa Agozzino.

All signings are contingent upon admission to the University, and compliance with NCAA rules, including certification by the NCAA Clearinghouse.
