MADISON, Wisc. ­ Western Collegiate Hockey Association women's member institutions have to date (June 8, 2005) announced the signings of 48 recruits who will be joining conference teams beginning with the upcoming 2005-06 season. The list includes recruits from nine states in Alaska (2), Arizona (1), California (1), Massachusetts (1), Michigan (1), Minnesota (22), New York (1), North Dakota (1), and Wisconsin (1), from seven Canadian provinces in Alberta (3), British Columbia (3), Manitoba (5), New Brunswick (1), Ontario (1), Quebec (1), and Saskatchewan (2), and from one European country in Finland (1).

Founded in 1999, a WCHA-member has captured all six women's national championships since that date, with University of Minnesota winning the title in 2000, University of Minnesota Duluth winning in 2001, 2002 and 2003, and Minnesota winning again in 2004 and 2005.
