Thirteen current and former Western Collegiate Hockey Association players are among the 40 invited to the 2005 USA Hockey National Women's Festival in Lake Placid, N.Y., August 18-25. The festival serves as the selection camp for the 2005-06 U.S. Women's National Team that will train in preparation for the 2006 Olympic Winter Games in Torino, Italy, in February.

Shari Vogt, who played at Minnesota State Mankato (2000-04), is one of four goaltenders on the festival roster. The WCHA has six representatives on the roster at defense including Minnesota's Winny Brodt (1998-01), Courtney Kennedy (1998-01) and, Lyndsay Wall (current); Wisconsin's Molly Engstrom (2001-05) and Kerry Weiland (1999-03) and Minnesota Duluth's Julianne Vasichek (current).

At forward, Minnesota's Natalie Darwitz, Krissy Wendell, Kelly Stephens (2001-05) and Laura Slominski (02) along with Minnesota Duluth's Jenny Potter (1999-04) and Jessica Koizumi (current) are among the 24 invited to the tryout.

Kennedy, Darwitz Potter and Wendell all were part of the 2002 Olympic Silver-Medal squad. The four and Stephens were members of the 2005 U.S. Women's National Team. The team will be coached by three-time Olympic head coach Ben Smith.
