DULUTH, Minn. - Shannon Miller, who has guided the University of Minnesota Duluth women's hockey team to four NCAA national titles as the only head coach the Bulldogs have ever had, has inked a contract-extension that will keep it that way through 2012-13 season it was announced today by UMD Athletic Director Bob Nielson.
In her ten seasons, Miller has amassed an impressive overall record of 260-70-29 to accompany her NCAA-best nine Frozen Four wins. Besides an NCAA-most four national titles, Miller has led UMD to the NCAA Frozen Four six times, including the past three seasons. Her coaching portfolio also boasts of an NCAA-high of eleven tournament wins, in addition to reaching the 250th win plateau faster than an coach in NCAA history.
The recipient of the American Hockey Coaches Association Coach of the Year in 2003, Miller is also a two-time Western Collegiate Coach of the Year (2003, 2000). Her Bulldogs have won four WCHA playoff titles and two WCHA regular season championships.
During her tenure, Miller has also had 19 Olympians from seven different countries wear the Bulldog, 13 All-Americans, five Patty Kazmaier Top-Three Finalists, 18 All-WCHA First Team selections and 19 WCHA Scholar Athletes.
