MADISON, Wis. - An all-star team of Western Collegiate Hockey Association women's league student-athletes has been selected to face the 2001-02 U.S. National Team in a two-game series, Friday and Saturday, Oct. 5 and 6 at 7:05 p.m. Friday's contest will take place at the Kohl Center in Madison, Wis., while Saturday's game will face off at the Xcel Center in St. Paul, Minn.

Twenty players have been selected representing the seven member institutions of the WCHA. Four players each come from defending league champion Minnesota, defending NCAA Champion Minnesota-Duluth and Wisconsin. Ohio State and St. Cloud State each have three players on the team. Bemidji State and Minnesota State will each send one player to the all-star series.

Shannon Miller, Minnesota-Duluth's head coach, assumes the same responsibilities with the WCHA Women's All-Star Team. Minnesota's Joel Johnson and Ohio State's Sue Kempf will assist Miller behind the bench. The team was selected by the all-star team coaching staff with input from all seven league head coaches.
