St. Paul, Minn. - The WCHA All-Star Team completed its two-game series with the 2001 U.S. Women's National Team on Saturday, falling 6-1 at the Xcel Energy Center.

Natalie Darwitz scored at 18:28 of the first period to open the scoring when she finished the rebound of former Minnesota Golden Gopher defender Courtney Kennedy's shot from the right point.

Karyn Bye made it 2-0 in the second period with a goal at 7:06. UMD Bulldog and former Minnesota Gopher Jenny Potter and A.J. Mleczko were given assists.

Puputti stopped two point-blank shots, one off the stick of Annamarie Holmes and one from Mleczko before Julie Chu finished the second rebound into an empty net. The goal, to make it 3-0, came at 15:35 of the second.

Wendell increased the lead to four with a backhand over the shoulder of Shari Vogt, who replaced Puputti at the start of the third. The score came 1:45 into the period.

Tricia Dunn scored her first of the night when her original shot hit off the crossbar. The carom found the skate of Kendra Antony and beat Vogt's glove hand in crossing the goal line. Laurie Baker and Darwitz got the assists on the goal at 8:16.

Sue Merz made it 6-0 with a point shot that deflected past WCHA's Puputti. The goaltender returned to the game after the fifth goal.

The WCHA scored at 16:31, recording the team's first goal of the series. Sara DeCosta stopped Kerry Weiland's point shot and watched the rebound end up along the goal line to the right of the net. Hanne Sikio found the puck and hit the far corner with a wrist shot from an almost impossible angle. The tally came at 16:31 of the final stanza.

DeCosta made four saves for Team USA, while Puputti stopped 47 of 51 shots and Vogt made 12 saves on 14 shots for the WCHA.
