MADISON, Wis. - Two weeks into play in the women's WCHA, signs for a tight league race are showing as five teams, Minnesota, Wisconsin, St. Cloud State, Minnesota-Duluth and Ohio State, sit within a victory of first place.

St. Cloud State jumped into the fray with a road sweep over Minnesota State. Minnesota-Duluth began the quest for its second league title in three years when it took three points from defending league champion Minnesota.

The remaining three clubs played non-conference action, with Bemidji State taking a pair from Wayne State. Wisconsin earned three of four points from Connecticut to remain unbeaten in the early season. Ohio State skated to a road split with New Hampshire.

The Buckeyes and Badgers return to league play with a series in Columbus, Ohio. St. Cloud State visits Bemidji State in the only other league contests.

Minnesota takes a break from conference action when it travels east to Mercyhurst and Niagara. Minnesota State also breaks when it plays host to Wayne State.

Minnesota-Duluth takes a complete break from the regular season this week. The University of Manitoba visits Duluth for a pair of exhibition games.
