Mankato, Minn. -Head coach Jeff Vizenor has announced the signing of three prep forwards in Lyndsay James (St. Paul, Minn.), Alycia Wilson (Temple City, Calif.) and Devon Nichols (Victoria, Minn.) to NCAA Letters of Intent.

"Overall, I think all three fit into what we want for the program. They are hard-working, skill players who will up the talent of our team. We are impressed with their character and determination and know that they will bring the Maverick hockey program success in the coming years," voices Vizenor.

James is currently attending Johnson Senior High School and playing for the St. Paul Blades. The two-time All-Tri Metro Conference Selection has participated on the Minnesota Junior Stars squad for the past four seasons. The forward has led the Blades in scoring twice, was tops in the conference in scoring once, recognized to the St. Paul Pioneer Press All-State Honorable Mention squad during her junior season and was a member of a two-time conference championship team. James has totaled 72 points in the last two seasons for the Blades and also was named to the all-region team twice as a soccer goalkeeper.

"Lyndsay is a gritty, tough winger who we look to give us more size and strength against the wall and to add a scoring punch as well," express Vizenor.

Wilson is a forward on the California Selects--Under 19 AAA Team this season. She has been a member of the U.S.A. Development Camp for three years and has been the top scorer for all those three including 2000-01 (26-22--48) in 23 games. The 5'4, 130-pound forward played with the Pasadena Maple Leafs AA Boys Team prior to her current stint with the California Selects and has been a team captain the past three seasons.

"She is a skilled player from a good program in California as we look for her to create offense and add speed and flash to our program," said Vizenor.

Nichols is competing for the Benilde-St. Margaret's High School program this season, which is ranked first in Class A. The two-time U.S.A. Development Camp participant participated for Chaska High School for three years prior to her current playing status at BSM High School. In those three years at Chaska, Nichols has totaled 181 points in 106 goals and 75 assists. The 2001-02 captain led Benilde-St. Margaret's High in scoring last season (36-24--60) and was an honorable mention all-state pick in 2000-01.

"Nichols is a hard-working goal scorer and plays well on either wing. We look forward for her to put some pucks in the net for us next season," comments Vizenor.

"They are excited to join us as well as us being happy to have them to turn around our program in 2002-03," said Vizenor.

The Mavericks (2-10-0, 0-8-0 WCHA) will next face nonconference opponent Quinnipiac, Nov. 30 and Dec. 1. Both games will be played at the Northford Ice Pavilion in Hamden, Conn. Friday's game starts at 3:05 p.m. EST and Saturday's contest will begin at 12:05 p.m. EST.
