DULUTH, Minn. - Forward Ali Lehrke (Bloomington, MN) and defenseman Krista McArthur (Alliston, ONT) have signed a national letter of intent to play women's hockey and attend the University of Minnesota-Duluth next fall.
Minnesotan forward, Ali Lehrke, comes to UMD from Bloomington Jefferson's High School Team, which won the State Championship in girls' hockey in 2001. Lehrke is a strong skater, who will bring speed to the Bulldog offense.
"Ali joins the squad filled with fellow Minnesotans and knows what it takes to be a part of the Bulldogs and will be called upon as a play-maker for UMD", says Bulldogs' recruiting coach Shawna Davidson.
Krista McArthur, who currently plays with the Brampton Thunder in the NWHL (National Women's Hockey League) in Canada, is a member of the Canadian U-22 Team. She also skated with Team Ontario U-18 Team, which won the 2001 Canadian U-18 National Championship last February. McArthur is an all-around defenseman, who will bring toughness and playmaking skills to the Bulldogs defense, also adding an offensive threat.
"She can do it all. As a member of the Canadian U-22 Team, Krista possesses all the skills needed to be an impact player in her first year with the Bulldogs", express Davidson.
The Bulldogs, 2001 National Champions and WCHA Tournament Champions, are now
in their third season with a 6-0-2 overall and 3-0-1 WCHA record. This
becoming weekend UMD will host Ohio State University in a pair of league
games on November 23-24. The games are scheduled to start at 7:05 both
nights.
