Junior, Forward, University of Minnesota-Duluth
University of Minnesota-Duluth came into the weekend series with Ohio State riding an eight-game unbeaten streak. That streak was extended to 10 as junior Hanne Sikio (Lempaala, Finland) led the Bulldogs to a win and a tie. Friday night Sikio set the tone for the weekend, setting up the Bulldogs' first goal at 3:29 of the first period and adding an assist on UMD's fourth goal in the third as UMD won, 4-2. Trailing by a goal in the first period on Saturday, Sikio found the back of the net twice in less than two minutes to spur her team on to a 3-3 tie.
Sikio, who played in the off season with Team Finland in the World Championships, is second on the team in scoring with 10 points (5-5-10). She has tallied two power play goals, which ties for the team lead and has helped lead UMD to the best national power play percentage at 30.6%.
The USCHO.com Women's Players of the Week are chosen by the USCHO staff
after consideration of all games played the week before. The Women's
Players of the Week are chosen once a week and are in its second year of
