MADISON, Wis. - Two league series helped close the gap in the standings, while the defending NCAA Champions relived the glory with a sweep over their opponent in last year's title contest. In exhibition play, the current league-leader was part of something special.

The Ohio State Buckeyes won two games from Minnesota State to jump into fourth-place and draw themselves within five points of first place. The sweep was the first of the league season for the Buckeyes.

Bemidji State snapped an 11-game losing streak to Wisconsin with its first win over the Badgers as the teams split their weekend series in Eau Claire, Wis. The points brought the Badgers within one of second place and kept the Beavers within two of third place.

Minnesota-Duluth extended its season unbeaten string to 14 games and upped its overall unbeaten streak to 20 contests dating back to last season when it earned a road sweep over St. Lawrence. The Bulldogs and Saints played last March for the first NCAA Women's Frozen Four Championship.

Minnesota got a look at the U.S. National Team in Grand Forks, N.D., and Warroad, Minn. The Gophers were swept, but played at the new Engelstad Arena in North Dakota and in front of a standing-room only crowd of 2,180 at Warroad Gardens in a town of 1,722.

This week, Minnesota-Duluth visits Bemidji State for two games and St. Cloud State visits Minnesota for one in conference play. The Huskies will also play host to a pair of games against Mercyhurst. Ohio State welcomes Princeton in other action.
