MADISON, Wis. - Minnesota-Duluth, Minnesota and Ohio State each took advantage of spectacular individual efforts on their way to perfect weekends that kept unbeaten streaks alive.
Minnesota-Duluth traveled to Bemidji State and took a pair of contests from the Beavers. Sophomore Tricia Guest recorded her first career hat trick and collected four points in the second game of the series. The wins gave the Bulldogs four points and brought them even with Minnesota for first place. The wins also extended the Bulldog unbeaten streak to 16 games this season and 23 dating back to last season. UMD is 13-0-3 on the season.
In Minneapolis, junior Ronda Curtin reached 100 career points with a school record-tying five assists as the Gophers defeated St. Cloud State. The win gave Minnesota a share of the league lead with 18 points. The Gophers are 9-0-2 in their last 11 games.
Ohio State played host to non-conference foe Princeton and rode the goal pads of sophomore Melissa Glaser to 2-0-0 weekend. A 3-0 shutout and 2-1 overtime win raised the Buckeye unbeaten streak to five games. OSU is 4-0-1 in its last five contests and 7-1-1 in its last nine games.
St. Cloud State played three games, dropping one to Minnesota and a pair to visiting Mercyhurst.
The league will take a break from game action for the rest of 2001. All seven team will resume action the during the first weekend of the new year. Bemidji State at Ohio State and Minnesota State at Findlay gets things started again on Jan. 4.
