National search to begin immediately; league tabs five-person Search Committee

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – March 15, 2019 – The Western Collegiate Hockey Association announced today that it will launch a national search, beginning immediately, for the next Association Vice President and Women's Commissioner. The announcement was made by Josh Berlo, Athletic Director at the University of Minnesota, Duluth and Chair of the Women's WCHA Advisory Council.

The women's Executive Committee has appointed a five-person Search Committee, chaired by University of Minnesota Faculty Athletics Representative Dr. Perry Leo. The Committee includes The Ohio State University Deputy Athletics Director Diana Sabau, University of Minnesota Duluth Athletic Director Josh Berlo, Minnesota State University Head Coach John Harrington and University of Wisconsin Senior Associate Athletic Director Jason King.

"First, we wish to express our sincere appreciation to Commissioner Katie Million for her exceptional work in improving the infrastructure and visibility of the Women's WCHA," Berlo said. "She leaves us better than she found us a few years ago. We wish her well in her new position with USA Hockey.

We believe this is an exceptional opportunity to lead the best collegiate women's ice hockey conference in the nation and to work with an impressive group of young women. We anticipate a strong candidate pool given the interest to date."

Added Leo: "I am pleased to lead the search for a new commissioner for the WCHA Women's league. As Athletic Director Berlo noted, this is the premier league in college women's hockey, with outstanding students and coaches. We are looking forward to finding a leader to take the league, and the game of women's hockey, to new levels of success on and off the ice."
