Wisconsin's Lacey Eden Honored As National Rookie Of The Month
Badgers forward receives national recognition for February performance

BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – March 3, 2021 – The Hockey Commissioners Association has named Wisconsin freshman forward Lacey Eden its National Rookie of the Month for February the HCA announced Tuesday.

Eden performed superbly for Wisconsin in February during her first month as a Badger as she tied for the league lead among rookies in goals (three), assists (four) and points (seven). The freshman forward also led the league rookies in February in shots on goal (23) and plus/minus (+6). The Annapolis, Md., native recorded points in four of UW's six games, including multi-point games in comeback wins against ranked opponents Minnesota and Minnesota Duluth.

The honor is Eden's first National Rookie of the Month honor as well as the first national accolade of her collegiate career. This month's award marks the third national honor for the WCHA in 2020-21. Wisconsin's Daryl Watts earned Player of the Month honors in January and Minnesota's Lauren Bench received Goaltender of the Month honors in November. The other HCA honorees for February were the Northeastern duo of Aerin Frankel who claimed Goaltender of the Month honors and Alina Mueller who earned Player of Month honors.

About the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Women's League

The Women's League of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association will mark its 22nd season in 2020-21. The nation's premier women's hockey conference, WCHA member institutions have won a record 17 national championships since the league's inception in 1999 (including 16 of a possible 19 NCAA titles), while producing seven Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award winners, 105 All-Americans and numerous Olympic and national team members. The seven-team, NCAA Division I conference consists of: Bemidji State University (Beavers), the University of Minnesota (Golden Gophers), the University of Minnesota Duluth (Bulldogs), Minnesota State University (Mavericks), The Ohio State University (Buckeyes), St. Cloud State University (Huskies) and the University of Wisconsin (Badgers).
