WCHA Offensive Player of the Week
Amanda Kessel - Junior, Forward

photo University of Minnesota right winger Amanda Kessel, who posted a goal and three assists in the visiting Gophers two-game conference road sweep at Minnesota Duluth last weekend, has been named the WCHA Women's Offensive Player of the Week for Nov. 7. She also earned the weekly honor on Oct. 3.

A junior from Madison, Wis., Kessel had four scoring points, including assists on both game-winning goals, four shots on goal and earned a +1 plus/minus rating as defending national champion and top-ranked Minnesota extended their season-opening win streak to 12 straight games (12-0-0).

In the first game of the series, a 4-1 victory last Friday (Nov. 2), she tallied two assists, including one on teammate Maryanne Menefee's second period winner. In the series finale last Saturday (Nov. 3), a 4-0 shutout of UMD, Kessel tallied a breakaway goal in the second period while also assisting Megan Bozek on the game-winning goal.

In 11 games played so far this season, Kessel ranks second in scoring overall among WCHA players with 32 points (15g, 17a) and first in average points per game at 2.91.

WCHA Defensive Player of the Week
Alex Rigsby - Junior, Goaltender

photo Goaltender Alex Rigsby, who recorded back-to-back shutouts for the University of Wisconsin against visiting league rival Minnesota State last weekend, is the WCHA Women's Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 7. Rigsby was also so honored on Oct. 31.

A junior from Delafield, Wis., Rigsby extended her career-long shutout streak to 189:29 minutes with her second and third consecutive shutouts, as the host Badgers won 2-0 last Friday (Nov. 2) and 5-0 last Saturday (Nov. 3) at LaBahn Arena. She stopped all 36 shots on goal and had six shutout periods in the two victories, with 14 saves in game one and 22 in game two, as Wisconsin extended its unbeaten streak to five games at 4-0-1 since Oct. 19.

With a 7-3-2 record over 721:08 minutes of action this season, Rigsby ranks second among WCHA goaltenders overall in both goals-against average at 1.25 and save percentage at .941.

WCHA Rookie of the Week
Hannah Brandt - Freshman, Forward

photo University of Minnesota forward Hannah Brandt, who had back-to-back two-assist games to help the Gophers to a conference series road sweep at Minnesota Duluth last weekend, is the WCHA Women's Rookie of the Week for Nov. 7. This marks the third time this season Brandt has received the weekly honor (also on Oct. 3, Oct. 24).

A freshman center from Vadnais Heights, Minn., Brandt assisted on two power-play goals in the series opener in Duluth last Friday (Nov. 2) to help the Gophers win, 4-1. She then matched that performance on Saturday (Nov. 3) with two more assists, with her first helper coming on Megan Bozek's first period power-play goal, which also served as the game-winner.

Seeing action in all 12 of No. 1-ranked Minnesota's victories (12-0-0) to date, Brandt is the WCHA's top scorer with 33 points (12g, 21a) and sports a 2.75 points per game average.
