WCHA Offensive Player of the Week
University of Wisconsin forward Blayre Turnbull, a junior from Stellarton, Nova Scotia, is the WCHA Women's Offensive Player of the Week for Oct. 23, 2013.
Turnbull led the Wisconsin offensive attack against WCHA-rival St. Cloud State last weekend and recorded five points (2g, 3a) as the host Badgers earned a sweep over the Huskies. In last Friday's (Oct. 18) 4-1 win, Turnbull recorded an assist and was +2 on the plus/minus. Then in UW's 6-0 triumph over the Huskies on Saturday (Oct. 19), Turnbull recorded two goals, one of them being her second shorthanded goal of the season, which is tied for the nation's lead. Turnbull also chipped in two assists to bring her season total up to five, which is tied for the team lead.
For the series, she also had 11 shots on goal and was a team-best +5. Her 1.33 points per game average this season is tied for 26th in the country.

WCHA Defensive Player of the Week
Ohio State University goaltender Lisa Steffes, a senior from Amherstburg, Ontario, is the WCHA Women's Defensive Player of the Week for Oct. 23, 2013.
Steffes led Ohio State to a 2-1 conference road win in her first start of the season between the pipes last Saturday (Oct. 19) against No. 5/6-ranked North Dakota in Grand Forks. She stopped 36 of 37 shots on goal in the victory for a .973 save percentage, had two shutout periods, and was named First Star of the Game.
Steffes held North Dakota scoreless until yielding a single power-play goal at 16:01 of the third period, holding UND to just 1-of-7 on the power-play in a game where the Buckeyes were outshot 37-18.

WCHA Rookie of the Week
University of Minnesota forward Dani Cameranesi, a freshman from Plymouth, Minn., is the WCHA Women's Rookie of the Week for Oct. 23, 2013.
Cameranesi led top-ranked Minnesota with four points (3g, 1a) in a two-game WCHA road sweep at No. 7-ranked Minnesota Duluth on Oct. 18-19. Her three goals included a game-winner and two power-play tallies, and she also fired 10 shots on goal and earned a +1 plus/minus rating.
Cameranesi scored her first collegiate goal in last Friday's 4-0 Minnesota win. She netted UM's third goal at 10:44 of the third period, had four shots on goal and was +1. In the series finale last Saturday she contributed to half of the Gophers' goals in a 6-3 win. She scored two power-play goals on six shots, including the game-winner at 15:52 of the second, and had an assist.
Cameranesi ranks third in the league and sixth in the nation in rookie scoring with six points (3g, 3a) in six games.
