The field is set for the 2014 WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF set for March 7-8

MADISON, Wis. The four teams that finished one through four in the final Western Collegiate Hockey Association regular season standings Minnesota, Wisconsin, North Dakota and Minnesota Duluth all won their best-of-three playoff series this weekend to advance to the 2014 WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF at Sanford Center on March 7-8 in Bemidji, Minn.

There will be two semifinals played next Friday (March 7) with No. 3 seed North Dakota (19-11-4) skating against No. 2 seed Wisconsin (27-6-2) at 4:07 pm CT followed by No. 4 seed Minnesota Duluth (15-14-6) against No. 1 seed Minnesota (34-1-1) at 7:07 pm CT. Friday's two winners will play for the league playoff championship on Saturday (March 8) at 7:07 pm CT. The winner of the WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF receives the league's automatic berth into the NCAA Division 1 Women's Ice Hockey Tournament.

The home teams all won in the first round, best-of-three series Feb. 28-March 2. Two-time defending national champion and top-seeded Minnesota, also the two-time defending WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF champion and the top-ranked team in two college hockey polls, won their first round set over No. 8 seed St. Cloud State at Ridder Arena by 4-1 and 7-1 scores. It took all three games but regular season runner-up and No. 2 seed Wisconsin beat No. 7 seed Minnesota State. The second-ranked Badgers sandwiched 4-0 and 2-0 victories around a 3-0 loss to the gritty Mavericks at LaBahn Arena. No. 3 seed North Dakota prevailed in their first round match ups over No. 6 seed Bemidji State at Ralph Engelstad Arena in Grand Forks by scores of 4-1 and 3-2. The second UND victory came in overtime. No. 4 seed Minnesota Duluth won two of three hard-fought games from No. 5 Ohio State at AMSOIL Arena. UMD took a 1-0 decision Friday, only to see OSU score a 3-2 victory Saturday. UMD scored a 5-1 victory Sunday to earn the trip to the conference playoff championship.

Tickets for the 2014 WCHA FINAL FACE-OFF are still available. Tickets may be purchased at the Sanford Center ticket office, any Ticketmaster retail location, Lueken's Village Foods, charge by phone at 1.800.745.3000, or on-line at www.ticketmaster.com.

Ticket prices, which include a facilities fee, are: ALL-SESSION General Admission/Bench (adult) =$23; General Admission/Bench =$20. SINGLE SESSION General Admission/Bench (adult) =$15; General Admission/Bench(senior/student/youth) (senior/student/youth) =$11; General Admission/Bench (group 15+) =$9.
