BLOOMINGTON, Minn. – Oct. 12, 2017 – The Women's League of the Western Collegiate Hockey Association (WCHA) and Howies Hockey Tape today announced a partnership for the 2017-18 season that will bring extra recognition to college hockey's most passionate fans. The agreement includes a naming rights sponsorship for a new award, the "WCHA Women's League Fan of the Month, Presented by Howies Hockey Tape," along with supplies for participating teams in the 2018 WCHA Final Faceoff.
"The whole reason Howies Hockey Tape started was its goal of helping people in and around the game; those values make them a perfect partner to help us honor our wonderful fans," said WCHA Vice President and Women's League Commissioner Katie Million. "Our fans, from young girls and boys to multi-generational season-ticket holders, are as much a part of college hockey's premier conference as our student-athletes and coaches. We are all the WCHA, and we thank Howies Hockey Tape for joining us in fostering a love of hockey."
To be eligible for the "WCHA Fan of the Month, Presented by Howies Hockey Tape," fans must post a photo of themselves, from any WCHA Women's League game during that given month, on Twitter, Facebook or Instagram and use the hashtags #WeAreWCHA and #StickWithTheBest. One winner will be chosen at random following each month, beginning after the final games of October 2017, and extending through March 2018. Each "WCHA Fan of the Month, Presented by Howies Hockey Tape" will receive a custom prize pack featuring a t-shirt, hat and other items.
"On behalf of Howies Hockey Tape, we are thrilled to partner with the WCHA Women's League on celebrating the league's terrific fans during the 2017-18 season," said Dave Visser, Sales Manager for Howies Hockey Tape. "The WCHA has such a rich tradition of on-ice excellence and shares our commitment to building the highest quality relationships. We look forward to working with the WCHA and its fans, now and into the future."
