WCHA Offensive Player of the Week
University of Minnesota Duluth forward Haley Irwin, who produced seven scoring points in last weekend's conference series against Ohio State, has been named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for Nov. 24, 2010.
A junior from Thunder Bay, Ontario, Irwin's seven-point series included six points in last Saturday's (Nov. 20) 8-0 Minnesota Duluth victory over the visiting Buckeyes as she notched a three-goal hat trick and added three assists. Her unassisted tally in the first period held up as the game-winner, she added a shorthanded goal in the second period, and finished the evening with 14 shots on goal. Her six-point game is the most she has recorded in her Bulldog career, knocking off her former best of five points in a skate, something she has done four other times with UMD with the most recent one against OSU on Feb. 14, 2009.
In addition to her six-point performance last Saturday, Irwin had one assist in a 4-2 setback last Friday (Nov. 19) and totalled 22 shots on goal in the two-games with a +4 plus/minus rating.
On the season, Irwin is tied for second in scoring overall among WCHA players with 23 points (14g, 9a).

University of Minnesota goaltender Noora Räty, allowed just two goals to help the Golden Gophers to a conference road series sweep over Minnesota State last weekend, has been named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week for Nov. 24, 2010.
A sophomore goalie from Espoo, Finland, Räty recorded her fifth shutout of the 2010-11 season last Friday (Nov. 19) when she stopped all 27 Minnesota State shots on goal in a 1-0 victory and also held the Mavericks scoreless on all four power-play chances. She was named the game's No. 2 star.
Then last Saturday (Nov. 20), Räty again got the starting duties between the pipes, this time backstopping Minnesota to a 6-2 triumph over host MSU with 27 saves. She again blanked her opponents on the power-play, this time going 3-for-3. In the two victories combined, Räty stopped 54 of 56 shots on goal (.964 save percentage), posted a shutout streak of 101:16, and recorded five shutout periods.
In 10 games played this season, Räty owns a 7-3-0 record, a 1.81 goals-against average, a .935 save percentage and has five shutouts.
