WCHA Offensive Player of the Week
University of Minnesota Duluth right winger Pernilla Winberg, who produced five goals and eight scoring points along with 18 shots on goal to help propel the host Bulldogs to a two-game conference sweep of St. Cloud State last weekend, has been named the WCHA Offensive Player of the Week for Feb. 23, 2011.
A sophomore from Malmo, Sweden, Winberg scored the first four goals in last Friday's (Feb. 18) 8-0 UMD victory, including a natural hat trick, three consecutive even-strength tallies in less than 9:00 minutes, and the game-winner. Winberg also added an assist in that contest, figuring in five of the Bulldogs' eight goals and earning a +5 plus/minus rating. Last Saturday (Feb. 19) night, Winberg compiled three more points, scoring the third tally of the game at 10:15 on the power-play and then tacking on two more assists in the third period as Minnesota Duluth claimed a 9-0 victory over the Huskies and earned the No. 2 seed for the league tournament Winberg was also a +2 on Saturday with five shots, and +7 with 18 shots overall in the series.
Winberg's four goals on Feb. 18 was a Bulldog career-high, and her five points in that skate was also a career-high. She has picked up at least a point in nine of her last 10 outings with four of those being two or more points. Through 29 games this season, Winberg has registered 33 points (13g, 20a) and is averaging 1.19 points per game in WCHA games (13-19=32).

WCHA Defensive Player of the Week
University of Minnesota defenseman Megan Bozek, who scored a goal and set up two others in a league series split at North Dakota last weekend, has been named the WCHA Defensive Player of the Week for Feb. 23, 2011.
A sophomore from Buffalo Grove, Ill., Bozek contributed three scoring against the host Sioux. She scored a power-play goal at 7:03 in the first period of last Friday's (Feb. 18) game to give the Golden Gophers an early 1-0 lead en route to a 5-3 victory that secured a share of second place for Minnesota in the final regular season WCHA standings. In last Saturday's (Feb. 19) 5-3 setback, she set up a power-play goal at 5:34 of the second period to tie the game at 2-2 and then assisted on a shorthanded goal at 17:55 of the third as the Gophers closed to within one at 4-3.
Through 32 games played this season, Bozek has produced 18 points with six goals and 12 assists to rank second among defensemen at Minnesota.

WCHA Rookie of the Week
University of Wisconsin freshman forward Madison Packer, who produced her first career three-goal hat trick in the Badgers' conference road victory at Minnesota State last Saturday, has been named the WCHA Rookie of the Week for Feb. 23, 2011.
A freshman right winger from Birmingham, Mich., Packer marked her first collegiate hat trick as the visiting Badgers topped Minnesota State, 9-1, on Feb. 19. One week after recording a career series-high four assists, Packer logged a career game-high three goals against the Mavericks. On the weekend, Packer finished the two games with 12 shots on goal and earned a +2 plus/minus rating.
On the season, Packer has 24 points with 11 goals and 13 assists and has seven multiple-point games, including three of the last four. She has also climbed to 11th in the nation among rookies with an average of 0.77 points per game and she is fourth in scoring among WCHA rookies.
