Kimberly Lieder had goal and an assist for the Beavers

St. Cloud, Minn.- The Huskies fell to the Beavers of Bemidji State by a final score of 3-2 Friday afternoon in a hard fought game at the National Hockey Center.

St. Cloud State jumped out to an early lead 3:39 into the opening period. The goal came from SCSU captain, junior Jocelyn Zabrick, her fourth of the season. Assists on the scoring play went to junior Callie Dahl and junior Ellie Sitek.

Bemidji State evened things up at the 7:03 mark of the first as Sadie Lundquist got the puck and went the distance for a shorthanded goal for the Beavers.

The rest of the scoring would come in a three minute span in the second period. It was started by Bemidji State's Kimberly Lieder at the 7:27 mark of the period as she scored on the Beaver power play. She was assisted on the goal by Kristin Huber and Mackenzie Thurston. Bemidji State would go up 3-1 at the 9:20 mark on a goal, the eventual game winner, by Lauren Williams. Huber and Lieder assisted on the goal by Williams.

The Huskies would make it a one goal game just 17 seconds following the last BSU goal. Sophomore forward Molli Mott added to her team lead in goals scored by scoring her ninth of the season. Setting her up on the play was junior Kylie Lane and sophomore Sydney Burghardt.

Both teams battled hard in the third but each came away empty and the game ended at 3-2 in Bemidji State's favor.

BSU outshot SCSU 38-28 in the game. The Beavers ended up 1-3 on the power play while the Huskies went 0-4. In net for BSU it was Zuzan Tomcikova who made 26 saves, and for the Huskies it was freshman goaltender Julie Friend stopping 35 shots.

The two teams will play once again tomorrow in the regular season finale for the 2011-12 season. The puck will drop at 2:07 PM at the NHC. SCSU will be honoring their three seniors prior to the game.
