Senior Brittany Toor scored two goals for the Huskies

Mankato, Minn.- Minnesota State dropped a 4-2 decision on Friday night against St. Cloud State at All Seasons Arena Friday night. The Mavericks outshot the Huskies 41-23 in the contest.

St. Cloud State struck first at the 16:23 mark in the first period on a goal by junior forward Callie Dahl that bounced off the back of a Maverick defender that was assisted by sophomore forward Sydney Burghardt.

Huskies started off the second period expanding to a two-goal lead on a goal by senior forward Brittany Toor assisted by freshman forward Abby Ness.

Just 18 seconds into the third period, Minnesota State sophomore center Lauren Barnes scored her fourth goal of the year to bring MSU within one. The goal was assisted by senior forward Emmi Leinonen and junior defenseman Emilia Andersson.

St. Cloud State sophomore forward Julia Gilbert scored the third goal for the Huskies that was assisted by sophomore Michelle Burke and junior Alex Nelson in a power-play at 8:54 of the third. SCSU senior forward Brittany Toor banged a shorthander in to bring the score to 4-1 at the 11th minute mark of the third period.

In a last chance effort, the Mavericks slipped one in as senior captain forward Ariel Mackley found the net with 26 seconds left with the assist by senior assistant captain Jackie Otto leaving the end score of 4-2 with a St. Cloud State win.

With the loss MSU (7-16-0, 3-14-0 WCHA) drops it second-straight game, with St. Cloud (4-17-2, 3-14-0 WCHA) winning its second-straight game. The Mavericks look for a series split tomorrow afternoon at All Seasons Arena the puck drops at 3:07pm.
