Molli Mott scored for the Huskies

NIAGARA, N.Y. - SCSU fell 5-1 Friday night at Niagara University in game one of the weekend non-conference series.

After a scoreless first period it was the Purple Eagles of Niagara getting on the scoreboard first at 7:35 of the second period. The Huskies answered back at 19:22 of the second period as sophomore forward Molli Mott netted her team-leading fifth goal of the season for the Huskies. First year Husky Audrey Hanmer had the assist on the scoring play, the first of her college career.

The third period was all Purple Eagles as they scored four goals to defeat the Huskies 5-1.

Niagara out shot SCSU 29-23. First year goaltender Julie Friend had 24 saves for the Huskies.

SCSU will go for the series split Saturday afternoon. Game time is scheduled for 1:00 pm CT.
