Natalie Spooner scored two goals for the Buckeyes

The Huskies fell to the Ohio State Buckeyes Friday night at the National Hockey Center in St. Cloud by a final score of 2-0.

Natalie Spooner scored two goals in the second period to give the Buckeyes their scoring. At the 9:47 mark of the second she was able to beat first year goaltender Julie Friend after being assisted by Ally Tarr. Then with 39 seconds remaining in the period she found the back of the net once more, this time after being set up by Kelly Wild and Brittany Carlson. For Spooner it was her 86th career goal, givig her a share of the Ohio State all-time goals scored record with former Buckeye Jeni Creary (2002-05).

Friend finished with 23 saves for the Huskies. OSU goaltender Chelsea Knapp had 25 saves. Shots were even at 25 and both teams were 0-5 on the power play.

SCSU and OSU will play game two of the WCHA series tomorrow afternoon with game time set for 2:07 PM at the NHC.
