Senior goaltender Jessica Havel made 38 saves for the Beavers

St. Cloud, Minn. - St. Cloud State women's hockey ended their final regular season series Saturday afternoon in Brooks Center taking on the Bemidji State Beavers. The Huskies fell to the Beavers in their regular season finale by a final score of 3-0.

Bemidji State came out in the first period to take an early 1-0 lead over St. Cloud at the 2:23 mark of the period. Scoring for the Beavers was senior Danielle Williams for her first career goal. Bemidji would end the first period leading shots on goal 11-to-9.

Another early goal in the second would have let the Beavers extend their lead but was called off after the review, holding to a 1-0 game. BSU extended their lead though 2-0 on a shorthanded goal by Stephanie Anderson at the 14:24 mark of the period. Assists went to Kaitlyn Tougas and Ivana Bilic on the goal.

The Huskies outshot the Beavers in the second period by a margin of 14-to-6 as they played with some tenacity on the ice.

St. Cloud was unable to get a bounce to go their way to get on the board as they fell to the Beavers by a final score of 3-0.

Earning her 23rd start of the season and goalie of record for St. Cloud was junior Julie Friend recording 22 saves, while BSU's Jessica Havel tallied 38 saves. Friend ends the 2013-14 regular season holding a 3-16-4 record.

St. Cloud State (4-25-5, 3-21-4-2 WCHA) will be in action again Feb. 28-March 2 as they head to Minneapolis, Minn. for the first round of the WCHA Playoffs against the #1 seed Minnesota Gophers.
