WENTZVILLE, Mo. (Lindenwood Ice Arena) - The Bemidji State University women's hockey team was defeated by Lindenwood University, 1-0 Friday evening in a non-conference battle. The loss moves the Beavers to 11-9-1 overall, while the Lions move to 6-10-1 with the victory.

Bemidji State and Lindenwood played a nearly even first 40 minutes of hockey. BSU had the slight edge in shots on goal (18-16) and had the benefit of one more power-play opportunity (three to two). Despite the edge in both categories, Lindenwood's goaltender, Nicole Hensley, kept the Beavers off the scoreboard with 18 saves in the first two periods.

The difference in the contest came in the third as the Lions broke the tie at the 10:38 mark with a goal by Alyssa West. The lone goal was all the offense Lindenwood needed as it held on for its sixth victory of the season.

In net, freshman Erin Deters made her first start since Oct. 25, but was saddled with the loss. Deters, who is now 2-3-0, made 24 saves in her return.

Notes on Bemidji State

-The loss was the first time Bemidji State has fallen to Lindenwood. BSU was 4-0-1 versus the Lions coming into the contest.

-It was also the first blemish for the Beavers in non-conference play this season. With the loss, the Beavers fall to 4-1-0 in non-WCHA games this season.

-With the result tonight, the Beavers have lost four consecutive games for the second time this season. The combined eight losses account for all but one for the Beavers (nine).

Next up: Bemidji State will close out its series against the Lions tomorrow afternoon. Puck drop is scheduled for 3 p.m. from Lindenwood Ice Arena.
