BEMIDJI, Minn. - After falling behind 2-0 early, No. 5/6 Bemidji State University scored three unanswered goals in the first period en-route to a 5-3 win over Lindenwood University Thursday night.

Nine Beavers registered a point in the game for BSU, including three points from seniors Kaitlyn Tougas (0g-3a) and Stephanie Anderson (1g-2a). Lauren Miller and Summer Thibodeau each tallied a goal and an assist to help the Beavers scoring. Madison Hutchinson and Emily Bergland each tallied a goal and Carley Esse, Megan Lushanko and Ciscely Nelson round out the Beaver scoring with an assist each.

Lindenwood opened a five-goal first period by scoring 36 seconds into the game from a goal by Carla Goodwin. The Lions then jumped to a 2-0 lead early on after Holly Dietzler scored at the 2:50 mark. It would take eight minutes for the Beavers to respond but Thibodeau found space behind the Lions defense and beat goaltender Nicole Hensley for the Beavers first goal. Bemidji State tied the game at two from Anderson's seventh goal of the season 1:09 later to mark the third fastest two goals in program history. However, Bemidji State wasn't finished in the period and Bergland scored her second goal of the season at 17:06 to give BSU the 3-2 lead after the first period.

Bemidji State opened the second period by Hutchinson pushing the Beaver lead to 4-2, 2:10 into the period. However, Lindenwood responded quickly when Emily Gunderson scored 56 seconds later while on the power play to cut BSU's lead to 4-3. Miller would score the games final goal 10:54 into the second to give Bemidji State the 5-3 win and sweep of the Lions.

Bemidji State now owns a 15-5-2 record this season and holds a 9-1-2 record at home. BSU will host No. 2 University of Wisconsin Jan. 15-16 in a clash of nationally ranked opponents.
