BEMIDJI, Minn. - The No. 7 Bemidji State women's hockey team fell to the University of Minnesota Duluth in overtime Saturday, 2-1. The Bulldogs (15-20-1) advance to the Western Collegiate Hockey Association Final Face-Off after completing the sweep of the Beavers (22-11-3).

The Beavers' WCHA playoff run is cut short and must now wait until the NCAA Women's Ice Hockey selection show on Sunday, March 6 to find out if they will continue their post season.

Senior Kristin Huber scored the Beavers' lone tally in the game, her 11th of the season, while Ivana Bilic and Kaitlyn Tougas recorded the assists. As a team, Bemidji State tallied their highest shot total against a WCHA opponent and outshot the Bulldogs, 47-31.

Bemidji State struck first after earning a power play late in the first period and Huber found the back of the net just 15 seconds into the power play. After most of the second period remained a 1-0 lead for the Beavers, Minnesota Duluth beat goaltender Brittni Mowat with just 4:32 left to play from a goal by UMD's leading scorer Ashleigh Brykaliuk.

Playing in a 1-1 tie for the third period, the Beavers looked to take a lead over the Bulldogs and outshot them 12-4 in the period. But the Bulldogs' netminder Kayla Black stymied the Beavers' attack and an extra period was needed to declare a winner.

Bemidji State jumped on the attack early on in overtime and had several opportunities to even the series. However, Michela Cava found space on a rush and fired a shot on net and Lara Stalder jumped to the front of the crease to poke at a rebound that eventually found the back of the net a sealed the fate of the Beavers.
