CAMBRIDGE, Minn. - Senior forward Emma Terres scored two goals and an assist while freshman goaltender Kerigan Dowhy made 23 saves in her first career start to power the Bemidji State University women's hockey team past University of Minnesota Duluth, 3-2, at the U.S. Hockey Hall of Fame Face-off Classic.

The Beavers improved to 3-7-1 (1-5-0 WCHA) with the win in non-conference action while the Bulldogs fall to 5-8-0 (3-5-0 WCHA).

"We played a good solid game," said head coach Jim Scanlan. "I really liked how we pushed the pace at every opportunity we had. Starting with Kerigan in goal and up to all 18 skaters, we had a really good team effort!"

The Beavers' second line of senior Emma Terres, freshman Clair DeGeorge and freshman Paige Beebe combined for six of the Beavers' seven points on the night. Terres led the Beavers with three points (2g-1a) while DeGeorge added a goal and an assist and Beebe recorded her first collegiate point with an assist.

Bemidji State started the scoring in the first period when DeGeorge scored her second goal of the season 7:55 into the opening period. The Bulldogs responded however, and just 10 minutes later, Minnesota Duluth's Catherine Daoust beat freshman goaltender Kerigan Dowhy to even the score, 1-1.

The first period ended at the 1-1 tie, but the Beavers regained the lead just 1:06 into the second when freshman Paige Beebe scored her first collegiate goal to put BSU ahead 2-1. However, the Bulldogs answered for a second time and at 7:52, Alison Rodgers evened the score at 2-2. The Beavers didn't falter and for the third time, took a one-goal lead over the Bulldogs when Emma Terres scored her third goal of the season at 17:57 of the period.

Dowhy showed confidence in net holding a one goal lead with one period left to play. The Pas, Manitoba native stopped eight shots during the final frame holding the Bulldogs scoreless to earn her first collegiate win in her first career start. Dowhy finished with 23 saves on 25 shots in 60 minutes of play while Bulldogs goaltender, Jessica Convery, allowed three goals on 34 shots to fall to 5-6-0 on the season.

The Beavers will have a short week before continuing Western Collegiate Hockey Association play. Bemidji State will travel to St. Cloud State University, Friday-Saturday, Nov. 10-11 to face the Huskies at Herb Brooks Hockey Arena.
