Mankato, Minn. --- Brittyn Fleming scored with 1:30 remaining in regulation to break a 4-4 tie and propel Minnesota State women's hockey to a 5-4 victory over Lindenwood in a nonconference game on Friday night at Verizon Center.

Fleming, a freshman center, intercepted a pass in the neutral zone and scored on a breakaway that was finished off with a deke at the 18:30 mark of the third period to give Minnesota State (3-13-1) the victory.

Minnesota State, which came from behind three times in the game, also received goals from senior forward Hannah Davidson, senior forward Amanda Conway, junior forward Jordan McLaughlin, and freshman defenseman Jessica Kondas.

Davidson scored the first goal of the game - her third of the season - on the power play to give Minnesota State a 1-0 lead over Lindenwood (3-11-1) at 3:06 of the first period.

After two Lindenwood goals put the Mavericks down 2-1 going into the first intermission, Conway scored the only goal of the second period - her fourth of the season - at 17:17 to tie the game at 2-2.

Lindenwood took the lead early in the third period before McLaughlin tied the game at 3-3 with her team-leading sixth goal of the season at the 5:17 mark. Lindenwood scored again to go up 4-3, but Kondas scored her first collegiate goal at 13:40 to tie the game at 4-4 - setting the stage for Fleming's late-game heroics.

Fleming, McLaughlin and Davidson each tallied one goal and one assist for two points. Junior forward Rebekah Kolstad, senior defenseman Emma Wittchow, junior forward Corbin Boyd, sophomore defenseman McKenzie Sederberg, and senior forward Lindsey Coleman each recorded an assist for the Mavericks.

Sophomore goaltender Chloe Crosby (2-3-1) made 18 saves for the Mavericks and Jolene DeBruyn (2-9-1) stopped 24 shots for the Lions.

Each team went 1-of-2 on the power play.

The Mavericks held a 29-22 edge in shots on goal, including a 13-7 advantage in the third period.

Minnesota State and Lindenwood conclude their two-game nonconference series at 3:07 p.m., on Saturday at Verizon Center.
