Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State dropped a 2-0 decision to the University of Minnesota Duluth in a women's Western Collegiate Hockey Association game played in Mankato Friday afternoon.

The Mavericks outshot the Bulldogs by an 11-10 margin in the opening 20 minutes, but found themselves trailing by a 1-0 margin when the teams entered the locker room at the end of the period. Minnesota State thought it had scored the game's first goal when a shot from the side from Lindsey Coleman bounced off the skate of Anna Keys into the net. The goal, which would have come at the 8:58 mark of the opening period, was disallowed after the play was reviewed by the referees due to goaltender interference. The Bulldogs then scored at 10:11 on a shot from Ryleigh Houston that deflected past Chloe Crosby after hitting a defenseman's stick.

At 12:16 of the second period, Jessica Healey, after taking a pass from Jalyn Elmes, backhanded a shot past Crosby and although the Mavericks outshot the Bulldogs 7-6 in the period, trailed at the end of two periods, 2-0.

The two teams battled through a scoreless final frame to close out the game. Led by four shots each from Keys, Coleman and Brittyn Fleming, the Mavericks owned a 26-24 advantage in shots on goal in the game.

Crosby, who finished with 22 saves, stands 4-11-1 on the season with today's decision.

The Mavericks (5-25-1, 3-20-0-0) close out the 2017-18 regular season tomorrow with the series finale vs. UMD. Face-off is scheduled for 2:07 p.m. at Verizon Center in downtown Mankato.
