COLUMBUS, Ohio - Goaltender Kassidy Sauvé made a season high 35 saves as the No. 7 Ohio State University women's ice hockey team defended home ice in a 2-0 shutout of the No. 5 University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldogs in a Western Collegiate Hockey Association matchup on Friday night at the OSU Ice Rink.

The Buckeye's (4-0-1, 2-0-1 WCHA) struck first when Maddy Field scored her third goal of the season on a power play with five minutes left to play the first period. Jincy Dunne notched her third assist of the year on the goal, and Tatum Skaggs earned her fourth assist, giving her a team high ninth point of the year.

After a first period where both teams combined for 13 shots on goal, the Bulldogs (2-3-0, 0-1-0 WCHA) tallied 13 SOG of their own in the second period, but none could get past Sauvé. "We're grateful that Sauvé kept us in the game," OSU Head Coach Nadine Muzerall said. "Things could have went south in the second, but Kassidy held firm and our offense kept attacking to make sure we controlled the game, even if UMD had a shots advantage."

The onslaught of shots from UMD in the second led paled in comparison the 16 shots put on net in the third period, but none could tickle the twine behind Sauvé. As she defended the OSU goal, Julianna Iafallo netted her second goal in as many games with less than four minutes to play, to ensure a 2-0 victory for the Buckeyes.

Sauvé's shutout is the 14th of her career, extending her program record. This is also her 27th win, which tied her for sixth place in program history.

Ohio State takes the ice again tomorrow to finish the series with UMD. Puck drop is set for 3:07 p.m.
