Mankato, Minn. --- Minnesota State got goals from five different players in posting a 5-1 win over the Minnesota Whitecaps in an exhibition game Friday played in Mankato.

The Mavericks, who owned a 14-10 shots on goal advantage in the first period, took a 1-0 lead at 8:54 of the opening stanza, after junior forward Corbin Boyd deflected Jordan Jackson's wrist shot from the point past Whitecap netminder Allie Morse for a power play marker.

Then, at 4:41 of the second period, Jackson tallied on the power play with a shot from the slot that beat Morse high on the glove side. It became a 3-0 Minnesota State lead at 5:48 when senior forward Hannah Davidson tapped Amanda Conway's pass into the net on a two-on-one chance. The Whitecaps cut into the deficit on a backhander from Amy Menke, who threaded the puck through the pads of Chloe Crosby at 16:05. Minnesota State junior forward Jordan McLaughlin tallied on a breakaway at 19:15 for a shorthanded goal and the Mavericks entered the locker room at the end of two periods of play owning a 4-1 lead.

Amanda Conway found a loose puck in the offensive zone and snapped a shot past Morse on the stickside to make it a 5-1 Minnesota State advantage at 6:14 of the third to close out scoring in the contest.

McLaughlin, Jackson, Davidson and Conway all finished with a goal and an assist in the win.

The Mavericks owned a 37-30 advantage in shots on goal in the game and sophomore netminder Chloe Crosby, who stopped 29 shots, got the win.
