The Buckeyes (11-2-2, 8-2-2 WCHA) took an early lead when Liz Schepers netted her second goal of the season to put OSU in front, 1-0, at the 3:36 point of the first period. Grace Zarzecki extended the Ohio State lead with her second goal in as many games, making it 2-0 Ohio State. Just over a minute later, Dani Sadek scored her second goal of the season, making it 3-0 Buckeyes with just over 10 minutes to play in the period. Finally, Skaggs scored her first goal of the game on a power play with 14 seconds left in the first to send OSU into the intermission with a 4-0 lead.

RMU attempted a rally in the second when Aneta Ledlova scored to make it 4-1 OSU with 14:34 left in the period. The Buckeyes responded with another Skaggs power-play-goal, putting Ohio State in front 5-1 before the second intermission.

In the third, Skaggs finished the hat trick, scoring a goal 3:51 into the third period. RMU fired back with a goal from Anjelica Diffendal to make it 6-2, but a Charly Dahlquist PPG late in the third made it 7-2. Brittany Howard scored for the Colonials with less than three minutes to play, but it was not enough as the Buckeyes cruised to a 7-3 victory.

Skaggs finished with a game high three points. Lauren Boyle, Emma Maltais, Sadek, Schepers and Dunne all finished with two points each. Kassidy Sauvé made 30 saves in the OSU net.
