St. Cloud State Women's Hockey team faced off against the Lindenwood Lions at 7:10 pm for game one of the weekend series. The Huskies ran into some early penalty trouble which led to Gigi Pora scoring a powerplay goal for the Lions at 9:44 in the first period. The Huskies responded quickly with a goal just one minute later as Mckenna Wesloh scored her first career goal as a Husky. Wesloh was assisted by Emma Bigham.
The Huskies came out fast in the second period with an early goal by freshman Olivia Cvar. Cvar's second career goal was assisted by Jenniina Nylund and Abby Thiessen at 3:40 in the second. The Lions bounced back with a second goal at 5:34 in the second period. The remaining 14 minutes of the second period were scoreless.
The third period was full of many chances by both teams, however, the period went scoreless. The Huskies had 11 SOG in the third period, with Emma Polusny making 7 saves. After regulation, the Huskies were 0-3 on the powerplay, but outshooting the Lions 30-18.
The overtime period went scoreless resulting in a 2-2 tie. Goaltender Emma Polusny made a total of 17 saves for the Huskies.
